Forum Owner Overview
Forum owners (also called channel admins) have full control over their channels. They can configure settings, manage moderators, and customize how their community works.
What is a Channel?
In Multiforum, a channel (or forum) is a community space focused on a specific topic. Each channel has:
- Its own discussions, events, and wiki
- Custom settings and rules
- Dedicated moderators
- Optional features like downloads or feedback
Forum Owner Responsibilities
As a forum owner, you can:
- Configure Channel Settings - Customize display name, description, rules, and features
- Manage Moderators - Invite, remove, and configure moderator permissions
- Manage Owners - Add or remove other channel owners
- Set Up Downloads - Enable downloadable files with custom file type restrictions
- Configure Pipelines - Set up plugin automations for your channel
- Handle Suspensions - Suspend problematic users or moderators from your channel
- Pin Content - Pin important discussions or wiki pages
Creating a Channel
- Click Create Channel from the navigation
- Enter a unique channel name (URL-friendly, cannot be changed)
- Set a display name
- Add a description
- Configure initial settings
- Click Create
You automatically become the owner of channels you create.
Accessing Channel Settings
- Navigate to your channel
- Click the Settings icon (gear) in the channel header
- Or click Edit Channel from the channel menu
Channel Relationships
Owners vs. Moderators

| Owner | Full control: settings, mods, other owners, all mod actions |
| Moderator | Moderation actions based on their role permissions |
Multiple Owners
Channels can have multiple owners:
- All owners have equal permissions
- Owners can add or remove other owners
- At least one owner must remain

Share files with your community:
- File type restrictions
- Version tracking

Moderator Management
Inviting Moderators
- Go to Channel Settings → Moderators
- Click Invite Moderator
- Enter the username
- Select their role level (standard or elevated)
- User receives an invitation notification
Moderator Roles

| Standard | Basic moderation: report, feedback, archive |
| Elevated | Advanced: suspend users, manage mods, change settings |
Removing Moderators
- Find the moderator in the list
- Click Remove
- Confirm removal
Suspension Management
Suspending Users
When a user violates channel rules:
- Navigate to their problematic content
- Click the action menu
- Select Archive and Suspend
- Choose suspension duration or make it indefinite
- A moderation issue is created automatically
Suspending Moderators
If a moderator abuses their powers:
- Go to Channel Settings → Suspended Mods
- Click Suspend Moderator
- Enter the moderator's profile name
- Set duration and link to an issue
Unsuspending
- Go to the suspended users/mods list
- Find the user
- Click Unsuspend
- Confirm action
